about

Inspired by the tightwads I've known, though some weren't very good at it ;-) Of all of my songs, this one has been played the most and has travelled the farthest. It's been played at a western bar in Caroline, AB; at a pub in downtown Toronto, ON; at a Songbird North song circle in Guelph, ON; at a tornado benefit concert in Angus, ON; and even on the venerable stage of the famous Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, Tennessee!

6. The Tightwad Blues (Dave Sills) © 2019

Hey my little lady, got something for me?
Been waiting for you baby to bring me two or three

Throw ‘em in the truck, we’ll take a little luck tonight
Another Village run, yeah they’ve got your number oh my my

Cause’ I don’t have the time
We ain’t got the money
The bills are piling up, you can pay them later honey
Gonna pick me up cheap smokes
From the boys next store
It’s a fine way to live if you’re not
Always lookin’ for more

Save a little baby, now don’t throw none away
Maybe we can make it and not have to pay

Throw a little party, tell everybody “bring your own”
You’ll never fill your cup if you’re always keepin’ up with the Jones
