My grandmother on my mom's side grew up in a little fishing town on the north shore of Lake Superior called Port Coldwell. She told so many great stories about the place. When I wrote this tune, and whenever I played it, for some reason I always thought about these stories. There's something whimsical about it. The rhythm guitar part is played on my grandfather's Harmony Monterey 6-string acoustic from the late 1960s. I never met the man (my grandmother's husband) - he died shortly before I was born. But I like to think I inherited some of his musical talents. Their son and my uncle, Bruce, also owned and played this guitar for many years. Strong family connections that I treasure...
